As Moments Fade

A colourful, symmetrical, abstract artwork.

A Life Lived

The Moments of Our Memories

I ponder on a person's world with a bright and vivid centre that fades in colour and definition towards each corner. I think of each little shape as a memory or experience, compartmentalised within a vast area we call our recollection.

The moments of our memories fade, yet even those that do form the character and quality of who we are, and what remains.

There is no telling what art will persist in its force and affect on me. I can be utterly transfixed by a painting, only to feel less affected by it a few short weeks later, and others like As Moments Fade that I continually return to, and take something new from, despite my not being so convinced that what I had made at the time would pass the test of time.

As with everything I make, it is the interaction of language (a work's title at the very least) and the art medium (light in this case), that resonate within me. Resonance of sense, mind, emotion, and spirit.

Dreams of Happiness Untold

Green blue and brown,

This bronze from Roman days,

This vessel forged with artist's care,

This object,

Passed from hand to hand,

From age to age,

Two thousand years and more:

That stood upon a table proud,

That held the love of man and child,

That woman saved from plunder,

Buried deep,

Unseen in soil,

Stored dark beneath the earth,

In wait once more to feel the light of air against its rugged weathered skin.

This treasure is my gift to you,

My hope: that as our seasons, soft unfold,

Your days are touched by kindness, care and love,

Your nights, by dreams of happiness untold.
